Medals All Round as Mary's Show Community Spirit in Fundraiser

Updated: Mar 31, 2021

The Saints raised the bar in January, running 1,500 miles for Compton Care.

Compton Care has benefitted from the fundraising exploits of St. Mary's. In February, representatives from the club visited Compton Care to present the charity with a cheque for £2,970.00 after a completing a 1,500 mile running challenge.

Players and staff from the club spent January running, cycling and rowing. Club Chairman, Gerry Bradley said it was a tough challenge, but it had been worth it.

He said: “I'm just massively proud to be associated with this club and so very proud of what the lads have achieved. To see the players and staff put the work in is tremendous.”

Gerry Bradley went on to say that Compton Care were shocked as to how much the club had raised for them and the players were presented with medals by staff at the centre.

“I'm just massively proud to be associated with this club and so very proud of what the lads have achieved. To see the players and staff put the work in is tremendous.”

A large number of players have also decided to keep going for a new cause.

Mary's Senior Team manager, James McGlynn used to play for a team in Oxford called Oxford Eire Og, who the club have a link with and have a challenge match every year with.

James' sister passed away from cancer, so Oxford Eire Og is working to raise funds and awareness and, as Mary's have a link with them, we as a club have decided to help out and try to raise as much money as possible for them.
